Help me end homelessness in New Hampshire!
As many of you know I joined the Board of the awesome Waypoint organization 3 years ago when the prevalence of Youth Homelessness became so visible in our City.
It breaks my heart to think that life at home could be so difficult that life on the street appears to be a better option for our young children. It's bad enough to have to live on the street in Summer, but when the temperatures fall below zero unless you've tried it for even one night, it's hard to comprehend. I just can;t sit idly by when I hear the stories these young people tell of the challenges they face living on the street.
That's where Waypoint comes in. Even in the dead of Winter, our Street Outreach staff does an outstanding job finding (many live in the shadows) and communicating with these young people - they make a difference every day. We also offer our Teen Resource Center that has become a God Send for the young people where they can get a hot shower, use a bathroom, find clothes and most importantly find non judgemental compassion.
Compounding the challenmges the young people face, the sad part is there just isn't enough (or often any) funding for these types of programs. That's where Waypoint steps in and finds a way - including through events like the Sleep Out which i am proud to do and appreciate any support you may be able to help with - once again no pressure - in many ways it;s just as important that you know there are resources for these young folks.
Waypoint is exceptionally grateful - thank you for BREAKING THE THERMOMETER and raising MORE than your goal... 101% and counting! Keep up the great work!
